Schools Working throught Wirral and Cheshire CASM has been involved with schools' drug education since the early 1990s when a schools' work coordinator was appointed. A programme of education was drawn up that met and continues to meet the National Curriculum guidelines for all age groups to 18. All our schools' team are are professionally qualified to deliver this service. Today the schools' team reaches around 14,000 students across approx. 50% of Wirral schools. More recently the project has led the way in appointing personal drugs counselors who work through referrals with 150 counseling clients each year. We are very grateful for the enthusiastic support of many Wirral and Cheshire schools. Supporting Schools We would like to say thank you to all those schools, head-teachers, teachers
Schools' Service Objectives We want to continue to develop our primary area of work, with the principle object of conveying accurate and up to date information to young people about substance misuse and their effects. CASM recognises the realities of the world today for children and young people, but hopes that the classes it provides will inform about adverse health, social and legal effects and that these classes will dissuade young people from using illicit substances and to use legal drugs (alcohol etc.) in moderation. For more information on our schools' service, contact Barbara Hardcastle at: 224 Liscard Road, Wallasey CH44 5TN We are located on the 3rd Floor of the CBED Building, virtually opposite the Citizens Advice Bureau Tel: 0151 630 1879 email: info@casm.org.uk Office Hours: Mon - Fri 9:30 am to 2:30 pm For a full report on our schools' work, please see our Annual Report for 2003 |
